Vegan Atlanta: A Neighborhood Guide
Raw stews in the West End, Neo-Neapolitan pizza in Little Five Points, vegan croissants on the Upper Westside — where to eat plant-based in Atlanta, one neighborhood at a time.
Edgewood and the Old Fourth Ward
Slutty Vegan, the burger brand Pinky Cole started in 2018 cooking vegan burgers in a shared kitchen, has a shop on Edgewood Avenue; it's now open on Mondays too. Further east, in the Edgewood retail district, Cinnaholic Edgewood bakes vegan cinnamon rolls you build yourself from a long list of frostings and toppings.
Little Five Points, Virginia-Highland and around
Pizza Verdura Sincera took over the old Zesto building in Little Five Points in 2024 to bake Neo-Neapolitan vegan pies, the Messicano, the Giardino and the Bianca among them; its owners told the AJC they tested more than 100 vegan cheeses. Plant Based Pizzeria on Barnett Street is all-vegan too, with pies like the Georgia Peach and the Hawaiian.
Soul Vegetarian Restaurant cooks vegan soul food on North Highland Avenue. Down Moreland Avenue, Purely Plant serves 100% vegan Caribbean and Latin food, with buffalo cauliflower tacos on Taco Tuesday and cheesy mac with rice and veggie stew on Soul Food Thursday.
Reynoldstown and Kirkwood
On Memorial Drive, La Semilla is the flagship of the Happy Seed group, a fully vegan kitchen serving modern Latin food at lunch, dinner and brunch. Further east in Kirkwood, Dulce Vegan Bakery and Cafe bakes its sweets fresh every day from local and organic ingredients, and takes orders for wedding and special-event cakes.
The Upper Westside and West Midtown
Flour + Time Bakery on Huff Road started as Leah Bajalia's cottage bakery and opened as a shop in fall 2023: croissants, cheddar chive biscuits, cinnamon rolls and strawberry doughnuts, all vegan. Out on Defoors Ferry Road, Mission Burger Co., from the Austin team behind Mission Street Burrito, serves "vegan food for meat lovers" at its Atlanta shop: a smoked mushroom brisket sandwich, a Reuben and a lemon pepper chicken sandwich.
The West End and Southwest Atlanta
On Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, Tassili's Raw Reality makes raw vegan food, from the Mandingo Wrap to Black Love Stew and Mango Mushroom Stew. Down the same street, Wadada Healthy Market & Juice Bar pairs a health market with a juice bar: try the Maca Veli smoothie (banana, cantaloupe, sea moss) or the vegan coconut ackee patty.
Cultured South opened its Lee + White kombucha taproom in 2018. It isn't all-vegan (there's a turkey panini), but it makes a vegan grilled cheese panini and a cashew cheese board. On Cascade Road, Vegan Wangs sells plant-based wings in flavors like lemon buffalo, jerk and honey mustard habanero, with its own vegan ranch.
