Where to Find a 100% Vegan Restaurant in Every State
From Seattle's 29 fully vegan kitchens to a single café in rural Maine, here is where the all-vegan restaurants are in each state, and the 13 places where we haven't mapped one yet.
How to read this
In the Sept. 30, 2026 edition of the Vegaholic directory, 38 of the 50 states plus D.C. have at least one fully vegan restaurant, a place where the whole menu is plant-based. This guide walks through them region by region and names a few places in each, all linked to their listings. Every state also has its own page on Vegaholic with the full list, including the vegan-friendly restaurants that aren't all-vegan.
These are restaurants we have mapped, not a census of every vegan kitchen in America. If your state looks thin, it may mean nobody has added your favorite place yet, and the suggest form is how you fix that.
New England
Massachusetts leads the region, with Boston at the center: My Thai Vegan Cafe in Chinatown, Whole Heart Provisions in Allston and Plnt Burger in the South End. Worcester has its own cluster, with Belmont Vegetarian Restaurant cooking Jamaican food and Jennifer Lee's Gourmet Bakery, and out west, Vegan Pizza Land is in Easthampton.
Rhode Island has Veggie Fun in downtown Providence and Basil & Bunny in Bristol. In Connecticut, Caribbean Style Vegan is in New Haven and Fire-N-Spice Vegan Restaurant & Sports Cafe is in Hartford. Vermont's fully vegan pick is Pingala Cafe in Burlington, New Hampshire's is Juniper Kitchen & Cafe in Dover, and Maine's is Taste of Eden Vegan Cafe in Norway, in the western foothills.
New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania
New York City has more fully vegan restaurants than any other city in our directory, and our New York City guide covers them. Upstate is better than most people expect. Rochester has a real scene, with Red Fern, Natural Oasis for Ethiopian food and Grass Fed Vegan Butcher, and Hollycake House Café & Bakery is next door in East Rochester. Albany has Wizard Burger, Buffalo has Sunshine Vegan Eats, and Green Elephants Thai Vegan Restaurant sits in Watkins Glen in the Finger Lakes.
Philadelphia is the anchor of Pennsylvania, with more than two dozen all-vegan kitchens; our Philadelphia neighborhood guide maps them. Pittsburgh adds Apteka and Allegro Bakery, and Vegan Treats is in Bethlehem. New Jersey is thinner than its size suggests: Kaya's Kitchen in Belmar near Asbury Park, The Galactic MegaStallion in Red Bank and How Delish HD in Orange.
The Mid-Atlantic
Washington, D.C. has six fully vegan restaurants in the edition, the highest rate per resident of anywhere in the country: among them Nu Vegan Cafe on Georgia Avenue, DC Vegan near Dupont Circle and Pow Pow on I Street. In Maryland, Baltimore has Red Emma's Cafe, The Land of Kush, Motzi Bread and Harmony Bakery, and Great Sage is in Columbia.
Virginia's fully vegan restaurants are split between Richmond, with Tiny Vegan and Minglewood Bakeshop, and the D.C. suburbs, with GreenFare in Herndon and The Difference Baker in Ashburn. Delaware and West Virginia have vegan-friendly listings but no fully vegan restaurant mapped yet.
The Southeast
North Carolina is the quiet standout of the South, with 26 fully vegan restaurants in the edition. Charlotte has the most, including Bean Vegan Cuisine, Soul Miner's Garden and Taste of Soul, and the Triangle adds The Fiction Kitchen and Pure Vegan Cafe in Raleigh and Banu Vegan and Pure Soul - Vegan Restaurant in Durham. Greensboro has Romeo's Vegan Burgers and Mike's Vegan Grill, and Sealevel City Vegan Diner is in Wilmington.
Georgia means Atlanta, which our Atlanta neighborhood guide covers in detail; outside the city, Hallo Vegan in Forest Park cooks Thai food and Tropicups Vegan Bakery is in Marietta. South Carolina's fully vegan kitchens are all in the Upstate: NAKED VEGAN and The Herbal Farmercy in Greenville and Thai Vegan Restaurant in Greer. Tennessee has The Southern V in Nashville, Sluggo's in Chattanooga and Frannie's Vegan Cafe in Johnson City. Kentucky has Lovafare and Shahar in Louisville.
Florida is big but thin in our directory: Love Life Cafe and Vegan Cuban Cuisine in Miami, L'Artisane in Coral Gables, Veggie Garden in Orlando, Sweet Theory in Jacksonville and End of the Line Cafe in Pensacola. Louisiana's one entry is a Cinnaholic in New Orleans. Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas have vegan-friendly listings but no fully vegan restaurant mapped yet.
The Midwest
Illinois is mostly Chicago, which has its own neighborhood guide; Abuelita Coco in Oak Lawn is one of the few suburban entries. Minnesota's Twin Cities have Trio Plant-Based, The Herbivorous Butcher and Lulu EthioVegan Cuisine in Minneapolis and J. Selby's in Saint Paul. Wisconsin has Strange Town, HoochMKE and Blooming Lotus Bakery in Milwaukee and Level 5 Donuts in Madison.
Michigan's fully vegan restaurants are in the Detroit suburbs and Ann Arbor: GreenSpace Cafe and Om Cafe in Ferndale, Try It Raw in Birmingham and Detroit Street Filling Station in Ann Arbor. In Missouri, Vegan Deli and Butcher is in the St. Louis area. Ohio has Propaganda Coffee in Rocky River and Thrive in Bowling Green, and Iowa, Indiana and Kansas each have one: Trumpet Blossom Cafe in Iowa City, Cuané in Michigan City and Mud Pie Bakery & Coffee in the Kansas City suburbs. Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota have none mapped yet.
Texas and the Southwest
Texas has 28 fully vegan restaurants in our directory, and more than half are in Austin, which has its own neighborhood guide. In North Texas, Spiral Diner has locations in Fort Worth and Denton, and Plano has Oni Ramen and Brya Zan Thai Noodle + Brew. San Antonio has Project Pollo, and Houston's entry is Govinda's Vegetarian Cuisine. Oklahoma has vegan-friendly listings but no fully vegan restaurant mapped yet.
Arizona has 18, centered on Phoenix: The Coronado, Tacos Veganos and Nami, with Green New American Vegetarian in Phoenix and Tempe and Lovin' Spoonfuls in Tucson. New Mexico's are in Albuquerque, including Vegos, Vegan Vato and Planty Sweet, plus Revolution Bakery in Santa Fe. Nevada's one entry is The Modern Vegan in Las Vegas.
The Mountain West
Utah surprises people. Salt Lake City has one of the highest rates of fully vegan restaurants per resident of any city we rank, with Vertical Diner, City Cakes, All Chay, Jollofology and Vegan Daddy, and Moab Kitchen feeds people on their way to the national parks. Colorado has WaterCourse Foods, Somebody People and The Cake Bar in Denver and Meta Burger along the Front Range.
Idaho, Montana and Wyoming have vegan-friendly listings but no fully vegan restaurant mapped yet.
The West Coast, Alaska and Hawaii
California has the most fully vegan restaurants of any state, 97 in the edition, though Los Angeles and San Francisco are still undercounted. In the Bay Area, Millennium and Souley Vegan are in Oakland, Tane Vegan Izakaya and The Butcher's Son are in Berkeley, and Shizen Vegan Sushi Bar is in San Francisco. Down south, Green Leaves Vegan and Monty's Good Burger are in Los Angeles, and Veganic Thai is in San Diego.
Washington has 34 fully vegan restaurants in our directory, 29 of them in Seattle, which our Seattle neighborhood guide covers. Oregon's are mostly in Portland, from Bye and Bye on Alberta to Dirty Lettuce on North Denver Avenue. Hawaii has Tane Vegan Izakaya in Honolulu. Alaska has vegan-friendly listings but no fully vegan restaurant mapped yet.
The 13 we're still looking for
As of the Sept. 30 edition, these have no fully vegan restaurant on our map: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming. Most have vegan-friendly restaurants listed on their state pages. If you know an all-vegan place in any of them, tell us through the suggest form, and we'll check it and add it.
