Vegan Baltimore: Where to Eat Plant-Based

The Baltimore crab cake turns up on three vegan menus here: Vegan Crab Cakes at one restaurant, a Crab Cake Sandwich at a bakery and Not Crab Cakes at another. Around them are bagels, bakeries and two stops on Greenmount Avenue.

My Mama's Vegan at 3433 Greenmount Avenue is fully vegan, serving the Bourbon Street Bacon Burger, a Mushroom Cheesesteak and a Shroom Sandwich. In the hours we have on file it is open Wednesday through Saturday. Also on Greenmount Avenue, at number 3128, Red Emma's Cafe is a fully vegan café with bagels, hash browns, Fried Mushrooms and Buffalo Chick'n Curls, open Tuesday through Sunday.

Harmony Bakery on Chestnut Avenue is a fully vegan bakery with bagel sandwiches, a Lox Bagel, a Shroom Pesto Melt and the Crab Cake Sandwich; it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Motzi Bread on Guilford Avenue is a fully vegan bakery with short hours, open Thursday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

The Land of Kush on North Eutaw Street is fully vegan soul food, with Vegan Crab Cakes, Kush BBQ Ribs, Black-Eyed Pea Fritters, Curry ChickUn and ChickUn Tenders. Mahjong on Saint Paul Street is a fully vegan Chinese restaurant. Slutty Vegan has a Baltimore location with a menu that includes the One Night Stand, Slutty Fries and Banana Pudding.

Golden West Cafe on West 36th Street serves Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, a Vegan Banana Walnut French Toast and a Vegan Hot Hon'ay Chick'n and Waffle. Spring Cafe, also on West 36th, is an Afghan restaurant with Qorma, Bolani and a cauliflower dish, and Gertrude's on Art Museum Drive has the Not Crab Cakes, BBQ Fries and Tangy Udon Noodles.

Alexander's Tavern on South Broadway offers Vegan Southwest Tots and Tavern Nachos, Papi's Taco Joint on Aliceanna Street has a Vegan Chimichanga and a Vegan Mission-Style Burrito, and THB Bagelry & Deli sells bagels, plus sandwiches such as the Uncle Gigi that can be made vegan.
