Vegan Salt Lake City: Where to Eat Plant-Based

Salt Lake City has one of the highest rates of fully vegan restaurants per resident in the country. A diner, Nigerian jollof, Vietnamese without the fish sauce and a cake shop: here's where to eat.

Why Salt Lake City

In the Sept. 30, 2026 edition of our vegan restaurant statistics, Salt Lake City ranks third in the country for fully vegan restaurants per 100,000 residents, behind only Seattle and Berkeley. That surprises people who think of Utah as steak-and-potatoes country, but the city has a deep bench of all-vegan kitchens, and they cover a lot of ground: a diner, a deli, Vietnamese, Nigerian and a bakery.

Every place below is listed as fully vegan in our directory and links to its listing. Several keep short or unusual hours, so check before you go.

Diner food and sandwiches

Vertical Diner on West 900 South is the city's all-day vegan diner, open every day from breakfast through dinner in the hours we have listed. Its sibling, Vertical Deli, is down State Street in South Salt Lake, with burgers and sandwiches. Vegan Daddy on North 300 West makes its own plant-based meats.

Vietnamese, Asian and Nigerian

All Chay on West 500 North cooks a fully vegan Vietnamese menu, which means pho and rice plates without fish sauce to worry about; it is closed Mondays and breaks between lunch and dinner on weekdays. Veggie House on East 1700 South does all-vegan Asian food.

Jollofology on West 1700 South is the one to plan around: a fully vegan Nigerian kitchen whose listed hours are Sundays only. If you're in town on a Sunday, go.

Cake

City Cakes on 300 West is a fully vegan bakery and café known for thick slices and whole cakes, with gluten-free options too. It's closed Sundays.

Beyond the city

South of downtown, Vegan Bowl in West Jordan serves an all-vegan Asian menu. An hour south in Provo, Vegan Sun cooks fully vegan Vietnamese food, and if you're heading to Arches or Canyonlands, Moab Kitchen on West Center Street in Moab is a fully vegan restaurant in a town where that's rare; its listed hours are Thursday to Sunday.
